“He really understood what we needed and gave us great advice that made our content much better.”
Refine was already redesigning its homepage when the team brought me in.
They did not need someone to begin again from a blank page. They needed an outside perspective on the messaging, information hierarchy, and product presentation decisions already taking shape.
Refine is an open-source React framework for building internal tools, admin panels, dashboards, and B2B applications.
That creates an immediate communication challenge. The homepage has to explain what the framework is, show developers what they can build with it, and make its advantages clear without overwhelming someone with every capability at once.
The existing revamp contained the right ingredients, but there were still open questions about how those ingredients should be organized and explained.
We started with the top of the page.
The header needed to help a developer understand what Refine was, who it was for, and why they should keep exploring. That meant examining the headline and supporting copy, but also the navigation, primary action, and information surrounding the message.
A strong sentence cannot compensate for an unclear hierarchy. The whole first screen has to work together.
We reviewed how the product was packaged across the page:
The goal was not to impose a completely different creative direction. It was to help the team make stronger decisions inside the redesign they were already building.
Refine’s team executed the changes and continued refining the page after our sessions.
The resulting homepage had clearer messaging, a stronger content hierarchy, and a more effective way of presenting the product to developers.
As Senior Product Designer Recep Kütük put it, the suggestions were “very reasonable and accurate” and had a significant impact on how the team presented its content.
That is the role the engagement needed to play: understand the work already in progress, identify what was weakening it, and give the team practical guidance it could implement.
